Update 2: I found the missing parts, they had been relocated to a box of steering linkage parts. I have everything off the car, and the new lines in place. I have tomorrow off as well, so I’ll get everything installed tomorrow. I’m hoping I can do a short test drive around the block once I get it buttoned you. Before any significant driving, I need to replace the 30 year old tires.

Update 1: Well, ignore this update since I actually have the parts. Oops.

I hope to get the front done, at least. I have a couple of helpers today, so we’ll see if that speeds up or slows down the process.

It’s a stock style kit, the price was right, and the vendor gets wonderful reviews. I called and spoke with the owner before I ordered the kit.

I’ll need tires, and then I should at least be drivable. I need to make a determination on wheels and suspension, too.

Disc/Drum conversion?

I’ve done it once, and it is fairly straightforward (assuming everything fits like it’s supposed to )

How about, “Send me another kit and I’ll send you back what I don’t need?”

Yeah not getting the right parts is the worst. At least you noticed you were missing stuff early.

Maybe give the place you ordered from some options:

1.) Please refund me and I keep what I have

2.) Send me the parts that are missing, please

3.) Please choose one of the above options

Especially if you have in itemized receipt missing items

As it ends up, someone relocated that parts bag to different box that contained my steering linkage parts. Oops

Yep, I did it on the Cougar, although I never got around to refreshing the rear drums. I also bought all new hard lines/hardware.

I’m lazy this time around, for the Cougar, I bent and flared my own lines. I figured the $70 cost for all new prebent lines was worth my time!

Now I look like the fool. I found the parts in another box, they got mixed in with my steering linkage rebuild parts. I’ve edited the post to reflect my error.

Thanks, I’m excited to get this done. I wanted to do the suspension at the same time, but I haven’t made up my mind on the suspension bits that I want. It will still be drivable with what’s on there. For now, I just want to get it on the road for a little bit!

Uh, yeah. bending lines is a no go for me unless I was building a crazy show car or something.

Burn the evidence, no mistakes were made, it’s not what you know it’s what you can prove!
